The school address was 34 Barnes Road, Sparks Estate, Durban.The campus actually housed two entities, Bechet High School and Bechet Training College with the same staff operating over the two sections.A hostel was also located on the premises housing students from throughout the province of Natal.The first principal was Mr Norman Ingle and the first vice-principal was Mr J van Der Vyver.Mr Ingle served as principal until the end of 1963, when he was replaced by Mr George Arthur who had been his deputy.On Mr Arthur’s retirement in 1968, Mr Pieter Bester became the third principal of the institution.At the beginning of 1971 the structure of Bechet College was changed with the creation of a new position Rector of the college, that position being held by Mr Bester. Mr John Pollock was made vice-rector of the training college, and Mr Bing Kinsey appointed as acting vice-principal of the high school. This was the first time that this position was held by a Coloured person.Because of ill health, Mr Bester retired at the end of 1971. Mr Pollock was then promoted to the position of Rector and Mr Lawrence Samuels assumed the role as vice-rector. In October 1972 Mr Cassim Jaffar was appointed as vice-principal of the high school section of the college.In July 1973 Mr Desmond Rampono was appointed as the first Coloured Rector of Bechet College.
